Welcome! We are thrilled that you are considering becoming part of our SOS community.

SOS is a unique synagogue without walls …. a congregation of volunteers, each making a unique and wonderful contribution. We seek to serve the diverse Summit county community from young ski instructors to active retirees…. seasonal residents to full-timers…folks for whom SOS is their only temple affiliation to those who have a home congregation and their mountain congregation.

We are not affiliated with any Jewish movement and we welcome members from a variety of Jewish and non-Jewish backgrounds who wish to participate in Jewish life.

There are so many ways to participate: come to a Shabbat service, join us for a hike, host adult learning in your home, participate in our social action community outreach, learn Hebrew, help plan a holiday party. In consideration of the current pandemic, we have made adjustments to hold many activities on-line via Zoom. We are taking “social distancing” seriously and will remain compliant. With that in mind we are doing small group hikes, bikes and in person services. We look forward to getting to know you as you find your place among our welcoming community.

SOS is committed to maintaining low membership dues so that cost is not a barrier to belonging to our community. Although we keep our costs low, our single household and family household dues do not cover the true cost of membership. If you are able, please consider supporting SOS at a higher level of membership so that we can continue to keep dues low and enable all who wish to participate in our community.
