Synagogue of the Summit

Friday July 22nd will kick off Synagogue of the Summit’s Torah Dedication weekend. It will provide the opportunity for Jews to fulfill the mitzvah of writing a Torah. What do we mean by that? The last commandment of the 613 in the Torah is to actually write a Torah. Over time, rabbis have decided that writing or repairing just one letter fulfils this mitzvah. We invite you to join Synagogue of the Summit (SOS) to repair a letter in our new Torah under the direction of our sofer (scribe), Neil Yerman. No experience is necessary. Not to worry! No need to be afraid that you’re going to “mess it up.” Neil will be helping each of us, guiding and making certain that it is done correctly. He has done this countless times and assures us that you too can complete this important mitzvah. You and your family are invited to sign up here to scribe a letter in the Torah with Sofer Neil. As a beautiful memento, we will have a photographer on site taking photos with the scribe and the Torah as you write your letter in the Torah.  Additionally you will be given a certificate commemorating your completion of this beautiful mitzvah.
