Purim Celebration-Hamentaschen, Megillah, & 4 Mitzvot

For a creative evening of shaping and baking Hamantaschen, reading a condensed version of the Megillah, and learning about the 4 Mitzvot of Purim. 

We will be honored by some of our new members leading us in the blessings before a fun reading of the Megillah:
Mike and Laurie Cohn will lead us in the Hamotzi. Julie and David Schwartz will lead the blessing over the wine.  Gratia Meyer and David Solomon will bless the candles. Come meet some of our newest members!

Be prepared with the following:


Chilled Dough - a few hours or overnight
Round cookie cutter, container lids work well (3”)
1-2 greased or parchment covered baking sheets
Rolling pin - a glass jar works well
Extra flour for rolling dough
Small glass of water
Clean counter for rolling dough
Filling of your choice - be creative

 

There are 4 Mitzvot of Purim - Lets do them all as a community!
 

  • Give Matanot L’evyonim - gifts to those in need (tzedakah) see below
  • Give Mishloach Manot - gifts to family & friends - bag up your fresh Hamentaschen and share with neighbors
  • Share a Seudah V’Simcha - festive Purim Meal - Fresh baked Hamantaschen, and something to drink.
  • Hear the reading of the Megillah
